What the ATS check looks at

These are the problems that most often stop a CV from being parsed, searched or shortlisted.

  • Text is selectable and in reading order
  • Your name, email and phone number are present
  • Your summary is a useful length
  • Every job and qualification has dates
  • Dates are in order, with no gaps left unexplained
  • Bullet points start with strong action verbs
  • Results include numbers
  • Your skills section isn't empty
  • Spelling in your CV
  • Length fits your experience
  • Photo advice for the country you're applying to

Why your CV stays private

Most online ATS checkers upload your CV to their servers, and some keep it. CVLumo reads your file and runs every check inside your browser, then deletes the file once your CV is imported.

Go further with job match

Paste a job ad and see which of its keywords your CV is missing, so you can tailor it before you apply.

Questions

Is the ATS checker really free?

Yes. The ATS check is part of the free plan, with no sign-up needed to try it and no limit on how often you run it.

Is my CV uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is read and checked on your own device, in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers or to an AI service.

What is an ATS?

An applicant tracking system is software employers use to collect, search and filter CVs. If it can't read your CV, a recruiter may never see it.

Which files can I check?

Text-based PDF and Word (.docx) files. Scanned PDFs are pictures of text, so no ATS can read them; the checker tells you if that's the problem.

Does a high score guarantee an interview?

No checker can promise that. A high score means the basics are right, so recruiters can find and read your experience. Matching the job's keywords matters too.
